Joey Ricardo is a lived-in house that wears its personality on every wall. Set on a hillside above the Baja coast, the two-story compound is built of stucco and woven-stick screens — carrizo reed panels lashed to steel frames that wrap the upper floor in a rough, handmade texture and filter the desert light into the bedrooms below. The plan opens completely at the ground level: living room, kitchen, and a deep covered terrace flow into one another and out to a mosaic-tiled pool, with Acapulco chairs and pendant lanterns scattered through the transition zone. Inside, the house is an art collection as much as a dwelling — bold figurative paintings, folk-art ceramics, woven textiles, and hand-thrown pottery crowd every surface, layered with the confidence of owners who know exactly what they love. A rooftop terrace commands a panoramic view of the Pacific, furnished with wire-frame chairs and potted cacti that catch the afternoon light. The architecture provides the frame; the life inside it provides the color.
